Working with Excel

Excel can be used with MatxFlow to prepare, transfer and analyze some of your maintenance data. Exchanges remain controlled from the screens concerned.

Importing and exporting data

When a type of data is designed to be exchanged with Excel, the corresponding actions are available directly from the screen that manages it.

You will usually find an Export button to retrieve existing data and, when import is available for that scope, an Import button to use an Excel file prepared outside MatxFlow.

Excel export

Export lets you retrieve the data available in MatxFlow in a form you can work with in Excel.

It can be used for further analysis, to prepare reporting, to share a data set or to work with a team that already uses Excel in its processes.

Keep in mind

An export keeps the data scope defined by the screen it is launched from.

Excel import

Import lets you use an Excel file as a source for the data supported by MatxFlow.

Before importing, check that the file follows the expected structure: columns, headings, formats and accepted values.

Preparing an Excel file

A file intended for import must follow the format expected by MatxFlow. A column may correspond to a specific piece of data, and some values may be subject to validation rules.

  1. Use the expected file format.
  2. Do not change the columns needed to identify the data.
  3. Follow the expected format for each value.
  4. Check the data before starting the import.

Exchanges from the relevant screen

Using Excel does not require leaving the functional context in which the data is used.

01
Open the data

Go to the screen that contains the data concerned.

02
Import or export

Use the actions available for the scope concerned.

03
Check the data

Review the file or the resulting data before continuing your work.

Excel actions are tied to the data.

When a data set can be exported, its screen offers the export action. If import is also supported, the import action is offered in the same place or among the related actions.
