The theme preference is only written when you use the theme button. Its sole purpose is to display the website the way you asked.
The cf_clearance cookie is set by Cloudflare, which delivers the website, during its automatic security check. It is used solely to protect the website against bots and abuse; it is not used for advertising or audience measurement. It cannot be read by the page's scripts.
Audience measurement
Cloudflare adds its Cloudflare Web Analytics tool to every page. It measures page views and loading performance and sends these measurements to Cloudflare. This tool sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser.
The website does not load any other audience measurement tool, nor any advertising tool.
Share links and external content
The share buttons on articles (LinkedIn, X, WhatsApp) are plain links. These services receive nothing and set nothing until you click; after you click, their own rules apply.
If an article contains a video or content hosted by another service, it is not loaded automatically: a box names the service concerned, and the content is only displayed after you click.
Managing your preferences
The settings panel shows what is used and lets you clear your theme preference. It is available at any time from the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.
The security cookie and the measurement tool added by Cloudflare cannot be disabled from this panel. You can delete the website's cookies and data from your browser settings.
